Kids are little parrots- we all know that. No matter what you say, kids hear it and may try repeating it. Depending how you react, you might hear them utter those same words over and over again, so you should be careful how you react. However, sometimes it's just so cute that you can't help but smile, laugh, and, well, just react.
Maile caught us off guard one day when she walked up to us, looked right up at us, and said "yo homey". It is of course a very innocent comment, as she learned that phrase is an alternative way to say hello. I just had visions of Maile walking up to her kindergarten teacher a few years from now to utter those same words and imagine what that teacher must be thinking.
Also, earlier this week, Maile knocked over her cup, spilled some milk, and reacted by saying "dang it". Again, very innocent but probably not how you would choose to have your not-even-two-year-old react to a minor mishap. When this happened, I simply recall Mindy turning her head to the side, holding back her laughter, and making her face turn red. If this is the worst thing that Maile says, I definitely think we're in good shape.
I can't tell you what will happen from here on out--all the things she'll learn how to do, say, and just be. But if Maile's favorite show continues to be Jeopardy--where she gets excited to see letters and numbers she knows, cheer for Daily Doubles, and sing the Final Jeopardy song while bobbing her head side to side--I think we'll be just fine.

Maile cracks me up!!! Hopefully that is all she will pick up on! Kids really do pick up on everything!!!!
"Dang it" is nothing! I've been hearing my coworkers talking about their 2 and 3 year old daughters repeating bad words and having to watch their mouths. They said it's hard not to laugh when they say it, because they articulate it and say it in the same way you do. Too cute! She's adorable in this picture by the way :-)
