Importance of Teaching Vocabulary

As quick as Maile seems to be at picking up things, I realized that the reason she learns is because we talk to her. Apparently, as well as she knows "please" and "thank you", I kind of forgot to teach her what those words are.

Replay of Tuesday night:

Maile is attempting to climb onto our bed while Mindy and I both change into our pajamas.

Maile: Up!
Me: Maile, where are your manners?
Maile: I don't know.

Then, Maile halts her attempt to climb the bed, walks around the three rooms upstairs, and starts looking around.

Maile comes back to us, shows us one of her toys, and says "Manners."

Mindy and I start laughing. And laughing. And laughing.

Lesson learned. When teaching a child "please" and "thank you", it helps to refer to them as manners. If you don't, well, you'll probably just die laughing.

Super cute! I LOVE the blog idea! I can keep updated in between emails, since I know we're both so busy :-)
